To mark World Mental Health day, I will be exploring what is mental health and why good mental health is so crucial. I have also found local mental health services and linked them below!
Mental health at its most basic is how you feel on a day to day basis. It includes your emotional, psychological and social well-being affecting how we think, feel and act. It also plays a part in how we; handle stress, relate to others and make choices. Mental health is super important at every stage of life from childhood all the way to adulthood.
It’s good to have good mental health because when you are mentally happy you enjoy life and appreciate the people in it! You can become more creative, become more enthusiastic to learn, try new things and take risks! Good mental health gives you the strength to cope with rough times in both your personal and school life.
There are lots of mental health services across Dublin and in Ireland. Some of these services are; Jigsaw which is one on one counselling for people the aged if 12 to 25, Pieta which provides a professional one-to-one service to people who are feeling suicidal and those who engage in self harm, Child line also offers free listening services to young people up to the age of 18.
The main reason I chose to wrote this article is because I also suffer with my metal health sometimes, the most important thing is to just remember you are not alone in any of the troubles you may be facing <3
